Artist 6: Do Ho Suh

Do Ho Suh is a sculptor and installation artist from South Korea. He lives between his hometown and New York, and shows at galleries internationally. His work revolves around the concept of "emotional architecture". He's interested in malleable space, collectivity, and individuality.

His use of lighting, despite not being the primary focus, definitely ads a dramatic element to this piece. What would generally be seen as very child-like and inviting isn't because of the artist's intricacy.

Using an organic material to replicate a hard surface gives the house an emotional, dreamy feel.

I love this artist's way of opening the viewer's eyes to how a material change evokes emotion and altars one's association with daily objects, and the nostalgic quality of his work.
