iRuder_02 Jonty Hurwitz

Jonty Hurwitz is an artist working today; his work deals primarily in sculpture, but also encompasses painting and photography. Hurwitz studied engineering in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he became intrigued by the fine line between art and science. Exploring perception of space, Hurtwitz often uses a series of mirrors and reflections to present his work. The reflections are often hyper realistic, but the sculpture itself is uniquely abstracted, stretched, or fractured.

"Rejuvenation"

"Lala Land" (Right Brain Vs. Left Brain)
2008 | Acrylic, resin, powder and steel | 100 x 45 x 30 cm

"Kiss of Chytrid"
2009-2010 | Acrylic, Resin, Powder and Steel | 64 x 64 x 36 cm

"Yoda and the Anamorph"
2008 | Resin, powder and chrome

Hurwitz's body of work is breathtaking; the rendering of the forms is unique, clean, and a fascinating Internet find. Hurwitz's interests in science, art, and perception shine through his work, which questions the act of perceiving in a mysterious and surreal way.
