Katharina Fristch

I love Katharina Fristch’s sculpture work because of how playful it is. She works mostly through reproducing objects involved in or seen in everyday life. Her art will activate your sense and have you feeling like a child again because you are seeing an object you most likely will have seen a thousand times but in a new light. Often she changes the typical color of an object, as well as the texture and size. For instance, she has a work that is a group of all black giant rats. Her work is comical in the sense that many people think her work is manufactured goods but, no, they are certainly sculptures molded and cast in layers.
