Irving Harper - Amruta Buge (Artist Research #4)

Irving Harper

Paper is a versatile medium to work with.

Irving Harper's known products are the George Nelson Ball Clock and the Marshmallow Sofa.

Irving says, you don't need any special equipment to work with paper. “All you have to do is sit down, cut paper out, and score it, bend it, and glue it.” I love Harper's work because he speaks of the various ways one can work with a medium if you put in the dedication and effort. Paper is a material we use everyday, thinking divergently of it in this manner is fascinating; his work shows that the possibilites are infinite.

Harper is known for his iconic industrial design, but his paper works show brilliant design, craftsmanship, and years of dedication for this hobby.
