Justin Gershenson-Gates

Justin Gershenson-Gates is a Chicago jeweler. Recently bored of creating jewelry, he decided to create small sculptures of bugs using old bits of watch machinery. He has been involved in many Illinois shows such as Lillstreet Craft Fair and Custer's Last Stand.

I love recycled sculptures! I think it shows how creative an artist can really be when given an everyday item. The lightbulbs for little abdomens and gears for the inner works of the body is a great use of form, as well as functionality. I wish these things could walk and were able to somehow glow or move the little claws. They really look like they could come to life and run around.
