Artist #2: Zenos Frudakis
Since Gary, Indiana, Zenos was little boy he
liked to sculpt under the kitchen table with things his mother gave him. His
father was born in Greece and came to United States when he was a boy. Zenos
and the rest of family were grown in Greek culture and Greek art influenced his
aesthetic vision; additional inspiration came from sculptors Michaelangelo,
Bernini, Carpeaux and Rodin. Zenos graduated from Pennsylvania Academy of the
Fine Arts, and got his Master degree at the University of Pennsylvania. Zenos has created figure and the portrait, individual
portrait busts and bas-reliefs. He was good at expressing the character and
vitality of his subjects. His portfolio
includes figure sculpture, animals, bas-reliefs and portraits. He has made
monumental sculptures in public and private collections.
I choose this
artist because he expressed feeling of human’s emotions and their body really
well. Also in his sculptures, there are lots of movements and elaborate on the sculptures.
