aDaigneault #2 Tsuchiya Yoshimasa

Yoshimasa Tsuchiya is a Japanese sculptor born in 1977. He has a doctorate in wood carving from the Tokyo University of the Arts. His subject matter explores folklore and mythical creatures and he often works roughly life size or you know whatever life size would be for a imaginary animal I guess.

All of his sculptures are wood with a tiny bit of mixed media for detail and they give off a elegant and quiet (almost meloncholy??) feel. Although they appear delicate and fragile the fact that they're so big adds a intimidating or creepy aura to them.
